I met Paul A. Merriman in 2012 at a writers’ conference where, for four years in a row, I presented the course, “Marketing Your Book With Love.” He asked about helping him edit and publish an eBook. I didn’t know he’d authored several books with major publishers, appeared on national TV, had his own radio show, and just retired from the successful financial advisory firm he founded in 1983. After several conversations, it was clear that his deep desire was to continue as a financial educator in retirement, generously sharing his extensive investment knowledge. Far beyond the initial idea of an eBook, we worked together to create a non-profit foundation, a website, three eBooks, weekly podcasts, articles, and a social media plan to organically grow his reader and listener base from zero to tens of thousands. As I continue as communications director for the foundation, Paul is working harder than ever, claiming, “I’m doing the best work of my life!” This is his passion project.

Artist Jan H. Croteau has lived an unconventional and creative life, as a jewelry designer, weaver, writer, and founder/director of an award-winning Shakespearean young people’s theatre for 20 years. But her long-held dream was to paint, to bring more beauty into the world. With her indomitable spirit, she began producing paintings every day, every one telling a story. Meanwhile, she attended many virtual courses and live workshops to understand the world of online marketing for art. When she contacted me, she had in place many good ideas and projects in development, but she wanted feedback and guidance, which were a joy to provide in our weekly sessions. “I’ve never been more excited,” says Jan.
